Launching ‘Jake in Space: Volcanoes of Venus’
The fourth installment of the Jake in Space series, Volcanoes of Venus, has officially blasted off, leaving a trail of sparks behind it. The book has been busy travelling the Queensland region, touching down at the Gold Coast Bulletin newpaper, Gold Coast City Council Libraries (Elanora branch) and Book Links (Qld) Romancing the Stars event at the State Library of Queensland. All this with great fun had by Jake in Space and its creator, Moi.

Writing Workshops with Wyrallah and Fernleigh Public Schools
Last week I was lucky enough to be invited by the CBCA (NSW) to join the Wyrallah and Fernleigh public school students to run writing workshops along with the very talented author/illustrator Lucia Masciullo, who ran the illustrating sessions.
It was a really fun and rewarding day and I loved hearing the feedback from Lisa Fahy, Wyrallah Public School Principal:
It was delightful to witness students, especially several who are normally rather reticent, taking a leap into both their artistic souls and out into their creative writing spaces.
The pride they felt in their accomplishments was heart-warming.
Here’s an article about the day featured in the Northern Star Newspaper:
‘Jake in Space’ Blasts off at Black Cat Books & Cafe
The Daily Moon journalist Angela Sunde recently jetted down from the Moon to interview me at Black Cat Books & Cafe about the launch of ‘Jake in Space,’ my new series out with New Frontier Publishing. We celebrated the release of the first book in the six-book series, ‘Jake in Space: Moon Attack.’ It was great fun and I answered some probing questions about the book and the series with Ms Sunde. Here are some photos from the day by the wonderful Elena at AEV Photography (hair & make-up courtesy of the talented Suzi Dent, Gold Coast Hair Stylist and Make-Up Artist). Video of the interview will be airing soon. For more info, free chapter samples and cool and fun activities visit the Jake in Space website.

The countdown to lift off is on. Ten, nine eight … see you there!

Book Links – ‘Romancing the Stars’
This year I’m ditching my husband to celebrate Valentine’s Day with Book Links Inc (Qld), the Centre for Children’s Literature. In what’s shaping up to be a fun night of music, book launches and scrumptious food, I’m very excited to be taking part in this special night. What better day to celebrate the love and passion for books and writing. Aptly titled, ‘Romancing the Stars,’ over the course of the evening, guests have the opportunity to ‘speed date’ an author. I for one can’t think of a more enjoyable way to talk about books and the writing process. If you’re thinking of coming along, it’s a great chance to chat with authors you know well and perhaps find out a little more about some you don’t know so much about. So, if you’d like to come along to this exciting event, please click on the link and get your form in before it sells out.
Look forward to seeing you on the 14th Feb :).

Gold Coast Writers’ Festival
The Gold Coast Writers’ Festival is just over a week away. I’m looking forward to visiting some keen young writers to run a workshop and panel discussion at Surfers Paradise State School (SPSS) on Friday 26th. On Saturday 27th I’m very excited to announce I’ll have available for purchase my debut adult novel Unloched on its official release date. To top it all off, I can’t wait to be a guest at the Literary Luncheon on the Sunday. Wow, what an awesome literary long weekend it’s going to be. If you’re on the Coast and love books make sure you book in fast and check out some of the many sessions, panel discussions, workshops and talks running through Friday and Saturday – most of which are FREE. If that doesn’t take your fancy, or if you’re craving even more, book yourself a seat at the literary luncheon. Whatever you do, you can be sure it’ll be a literary feast. See Flyer Gold Coast Writers Festival 2012 and FLYER – GCWF for further details and booking info.
